New County Champion Tree

This Norway spruce was recently measured and crowned the Garrett County Champion of its species! Scoring a total of 217.4 points, this tree is located on private property in Swanton.

The Big Tree Program aims to recognize the largest trees of each species within the county and state. The program began in Maryland in 1925 and went nation wide in 1940!
